Thinking about a visit to the UK? Fastened in the North West of England is Liverpool, a port city with a rich and diverse history. Here are 5 ways to spend a day in Liverpool (although it could take weeks to soak up all of this wonderful destination).
1. Learn
Whether it’s the Liverpool Cathedral, the Central Library, or any of Liverpool’s museums and art galleries, there’s plenty of ways to get a healthy dose of culture in the city. Learn about the Beatles on the popular Jackie Spencer BeatleGuide tour. On this walking tour, well informed guides will teach you all you need to know about the Beatles as well as the city of Liverpool in general! For a more in depth look at the rise of the Beatles, visit the award-winning Beatles Story. Music fans certainly won’t be disappointed.
Liverpool also boasts a proud collection of museums and art galleries. Walker Art Gallery, Museum of Liverpool, and Merseyside Maritime Museum are all just walking distance from public transport and provide premier displays for the public. Best of all, there’s no entry fee for these attractions so there is no reason to pass up on a visit.
2. Dance
The Cavern Club! This is the very place where the Beatles found their true identity. Today, the Cavern is a bustling music destination featuring new pop acts and up and coming artists. The cavernous club is open 7 days a week starting at 10 AM with live music beginning at 3:30 PM on the weekdays and 2:30PM on weekends. Admission is often free except for small entry fees from Thursday to Sunday evenings.
When the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic is not acting as a cinema or a center of classical music, it is an excellent venue to catch a wide range of music ranging from contemporary rock, pop, folk, roots, jazz and blues concerts and music projects.
3. Shop
The largest open air shopping center in the UK, Liverpool ONE is 42 acres of shopping and adventure. One can spend an entire day at Liverpool One – almost 170 stores as well as a cinema, two 18-hole adventure golf courses, and many restaurants will keep you busy for hours.
For some nice restaurants or a cup of coffee, look no further than the Albert Dock. This is where you’ll find that special souvenir or snapshot to bring home.
4. Cheer
Football (soccer) fans worldwide know Liverpool for their two top-class football teams – Liverpool F.C. and Everton F.C. The two clubs are famously located just a mile apart, spurring a healthy rivalry which colors the city in shades of red and blue.
Visit Anfield Stadium to get a tour or experience a Liverpool Premier League match firsthand.
5. Win and Laugh
Whether you’re in the mood for a show or a game, Liverpool has an activity for you. Channel your inner Sherlock Holmes with a trip to Clue Finders. Here, you and your friends can play the Escape Game. If that goes well you should also try Tick Tock Unlock and Exit Strategy – other great escape games around Liverpool.
Laughing is a great way to unwind, so we recommend you spend an evening at LaughterHouse Comedy, Hot Water Comedy Club, Liverpool Comedy Central or Liverpool Comedy Cellar.
